Viticulture
2021 was another cool and wet year overall. We had some prolonged warm and bright spells, which helped no end with the level of maturity in the fruit in this year. 2021 was a battle against mildews during the summer. A tough start with hard frosts in the middle of April and May leaving us with a relatively higher proportion of the vineyard frosted and because the hard frosts were a month apart, it meant we had some uneven fruit maturity in some parts of the vineyard. Come harvest time, this didn't have a significant negative bearing on quality as the overall maturity was good when we came to harvest in the last two weeks in October.
Vinification
5% red wine. Majority of the blend is fermented in stainless steel with small proportion <5% being barrel fermented.
