Viticulture
Little frost damage in April followed by a warm and settled May led to a fantastic fruit set meaning the growing season started off well. A heatwave in Europe led to persistent wet weather across July and into early August. However, the Summer ended as it had started, with one of the warmest September on record. The late burst of sunshine helped the grapes reach terrific levels of ripeness come harvest, meaning high quality and quantity of fruit was achieved across both Artelium site.
Vinification
Whole bunch pressed fruit from Madehurst which gave a creamy texture to the wine. The wine is very carefully made to best construct the flavour profile of wine, so yeast and temperature management was important in making this wine. Fermentation for 25 days at 14 degrees and aged on lees for 6 months with battonage 2 times a month for a fuller texture on the palate. Made in an off dry style to best follow its predecessor. Very delicate wine.
